May 27th 2012 brought the 75th anniversary of one of the most iconic man-made landmarks in the United States: San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge. To commemorate this milestone, the city of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District, and the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, in conjunction with several non-profit and corporate partnerships, put together a 75th Anniversary celebration complete with film screenings, contests, art exhibits, food, and more!

Coloredge was honored to be a part of the celebrations as the primary print provider for the event. Hunt Design contacted Senior Account Manager John Gibson to assist them with the printed elements for the celebration. John worked with the designers at Hunt Design to engineer unique ways to display their designs for the event including graphics within a massive 80’ x 100’ “history tent.” The exhibit within the tent told the story of the creation and building process of the historic bridge with visual aids on the walls, floor, and ceiling. Coloredge used several different substrates and printing processes to bring Hunt Design’s vision to life including frontlit vinyls, mesh, blockout materials, polyscreen, and cutting edge G-Floor materials.

The event not only highlighted Coloredge’s vast printing and manufacturing capabilities, but also showcased our ability as a solutions provider and event graphics specialist. Cutting edge installation techniques enhanced the event area, especially when it came to the 60’ x 48’ stage banners, 8’ x 24’ four sided mesh directional towers, and numerous other wayfinding graphics.  Mesh, rather than a traditional vinyl, was used to allow wind to pass through the giant columns creating a more structurally sound piece without sacrificing the look or vibrancy of the graphics.

The event was a huge success for San Francisco, Hunt Design, Coloredge, and all parties involved. It was a magnificent celebration to be a part of and we cannot wait to see the bridge make it to it’s 100th anniversary in 2037!
