Coloredge Teams Up with Starlight Children’s Foundation For Variety

When a child is diagnosed with a serious illness, the day-to-day joys of childhood take a back seat to the rigors of treatment and hospitalization.  Starlight Children’s Foundation™ is an amazing non-profit that helps seriously ill kids and their entire family cope with the experiences of prolonged illness.  Since 1983, Starlight has invested in the emotional health of children with serious medical conditions with incredible programs both in and out of the hospital.

Starlight’s hospital programs bring needed fun and distraction from medical treatments and have been proven to lessen the need for pain medication. Outside the hospital, Starlight Great Escapes™ connect families facing similar challenges so they can spend time together, escape their medical worries and return home with a renewed sense of strength, hope and community.

So, when Starlight asked Coloredge for help with a prominent advertisement, we jumped at the chance to contribute!

Starlight was given the chance to feature a full-page, color ad in Variety. As a premiere news source on the entertainment industry for Hollywood’s finest, the ad needed to fit in with the media buzz while standing out to grab readers’ attention. With the publication’s release date just around the corner, we faced a quick turn-around time.

Armed with the brand’s established aesthetic and graphic elements, Coloredge started creating. We knew that Starlight wanted to capture the joy and simplicity of being a child while still appealing to adult readers; with that in mind, we combined a bright pallet of colors with soft textures, using typographic components to emphasize the ad’s message. Within twenty-four hours, we produced an ad that embodied the ‘entertainment’ theme (both the value of entertainment that Starlight brings to children in the hospital through their Fun Centers, as well as the subject-matter of Variety).

Starlight was thrilled with the results, and will continue to work with Coloredge’s design team to help represent their mission. Reps at Variety were also excited about the ad, saying ‘it really popped’ and that the entertainment-focused piece makes ‘a much bigger impact’ on its readers.
